Collection: Iconic Theogonies - Images of the computational God
The series “Visual Theogonies” (2014) arose out of a playful game with the poem “Theogony: The origin of the gods”, by the Greek poet Hesiod. Hesiod’s poem is about the Greek gods’ birth process and, as a result, the image series receives the subtitle “images of the computational god”, since in this case the gods are transmuted according to the will of computational algorithms. It is a series of works produced in an automated manner by an algorithm that I developed exploring the philosophical concept of chance.
Two artworks of this series (“Dionysus (Διόνυσος)” and “Calliope (Καλλιόπη)”) are in the V&A's – Victoria and Albert Museum – collection, in London, UK.
